The Scent of Hobart

In some exciting news, at the end of September, we were approached by The City of Hobart about doing a scent collaboration with them, with the goal of creating a scent that smells, feels and conjures up Hobart.

This scent was to be given as a gift from The Cities of Hobart, Glenorchy and Clarence, to delegates at the National Economic Development Conference held in Newcastle, NSW, in October.

Of course we said yes!

We were inspired by the opportunity to create this scent, embracing it immediately. Starting with a team brainstorming session drawing on our inspirations, we described scents, sites, feelings and memories of Hobart, and what it means to us to be from Hobart. We then refined these down to the key elements that make Hobart unique.

Work then began on creating the actual scent. Drops of Silver Wattle, Boronia & Lemon Myrtle, a sprinkle of Apple & Apricot, a splash of Marine Accords, some Wood & Moss for depth & a little dash of Coffee. This was also when we started bringing the label design to life.

Representatives from The City of Hobart came to tour our Studio and Bushland Home, experiencing the scent, and feeling a little heat as Maryka demonstrated how she infuses various flora into Whisky. The smell was divine!

Decanting of the scent into the room spray bottles had also begun! Hours of pouring later and we had finished that process!

Once the labels arrived, it was time for Masey to do her magic and place them on! Then it was a quick dash to wrap and package them up in time for the courier to come & ship them away to the conference! 

We would like to thank the The City of Hobart for asking us to be part of the Economic Development Conference, to represent Hobart, in conjunction with the City of Clarence and the City of Glenorchy.

Apparently, we were the talk of the conference, which is such a delight for us to hear.
